Jonathan is a highly accomplished professional with a Master's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, obtained from the De Duve Institute (UCLouvain) in 2005. His extensive academic background has honed his expertise in understanding the intricate role of signaling pathways in pancreatic embryonic development.
In 2006, Jonathan embarked on his journey at UCB Pharma (Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium) as a scientist specializing in High Throughput Screening. During the initial phase of his career, he dedicated himself to the development, validation, and automation of in vitro assays. Recognizing the potential of emerging "omics" technologies, Jonathan played a pivotal role in establishing UCB Translational Bioinformatics department in 2009. Here, he led the charge in harnessing these cutting-edge technologies to advance translational drug discovery research. His contributions spanned diverse areas such as disease modeling, target identification, preclinical model selection, and clinical biomarker identification.
In 2017, he entirely focused on the Neuroscience therapeutic area, where he assumed the role of team leader. In this capacity, he has consistently showcased his profound knowledge of biology, pharmacology, and computational biology. Jonathan's remarkable ability to innovate at the intersection of different disciplines has earned him multiple internal recognitions. Moreover, he has successfully initiated and delivered on multiple European public-private partnerships (IMI) and established fruitful collaborations with esteemed academic groups
